Apple Cider Vinegar

Fermented botanical rich in acetic acid that supports digestive pH, glycemic regulation, and gut microbiome balance.

What it is

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV, formatted as dehydrated Apple Cider Vinegar Powder containing 5% acetic acid) is derived from fermented crushed apple juice. In Velo16 Probiotics Apple Cider, ACV powder is combined with 16 strains of microencapsulated probiotics to enhance digestive gastric acidity, nutrient breakdown, and postprandial glycemic wellness.

Also known as: ACV Powder, Apple Cider Vinegar Powder

What it does

  • Provides dietary acetic acid to support gastric acid environment and enzymatic protein digestion.
  • Blunts postprandial glucose spikes by delaying gastric emptying and inhibiting disaccharidase activity.
  • Modulates lipid metabolism and supports feelings of satiety after meals.
  • Provides organic polyphenols and organic acids that exhibit mild antimicrobial activity against opportunistic pathogens.

Amplified by probiotics

Acetic acid from ACV creates an optimal mildly acidic luminal pH in the upper gastrointestinal tract, which suppresses pathogenic microbial overgrowth while creating ideal conditions for Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium colonization. The organic acetic acid in ACV acts directly as a key short-chain fatty acid (SCFA), fueling colonocytes and cross-feeding commensal butyrate-producing bacteria. Concurrently, Velobiotics MEP lipid microencapsulation shields live probiotic cultures from premature dissolution in the acetic acid environment, delivering intact live cultures directly to the distal gut.

Typical dose

500–1500 mg/day (ACV powder)

The evidence

Evidence: moderate

Human clinical trials confirm that apple cider vinegar (and acetic acid) supplementation significantly reduces postprandial blood glucose and insulin responses, delays gastric emptying rate, and supports modest weight management. Safety & who should check first

ACV powder in capsule form eliminates the risk of dental enamel erosion associated with liquid vinegar. Generally very safe; excessive liquid vinegar intake may cause hypokalemia or gastrointestinal upset.
